Striving for College: A Case Study of Urban African American and Latino High School Males in College Prep Programs

To create greater equity and educational opportunity, millions of federal, state and private dollars have been allocated to develop college-preparation programs at the secondary level. Despite this growth, over two thirds of students do not complete the programs, with the largest group being students of color in urban areas.

Noel Anderson has over 15 years of experience in education. Prior to his appointment at Brooklyn College School of Education, Noel served as Director of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, an educational non-profit organization serving students of color in NYC. He also serves as a consultant to grantmaking foundations and non-profits working on supplemental educational programs in urban communities.
