Preparing Business Students for Globalisation:: A Comparative Study

The importance of preparing business students for globalisation has long been recognised by faculty in business schools, colleges and universities around the world. However, it is likely that the extent of this preparation varies from university to university and from country to country. It is hypothesised that students in the United States are less likely to have as strong a cultural awareness as students in Europe and thus be less ready to compete globally. This project uses a survey instrument to investigate students' perceptions of their preparation for, and understanding of, international business.

Prof. Bird teaches in the Marketing Department at Providence College, RI. Her Ph.D. is from Purdue University, Indiana, her MBA from University of Cape Town, South Africa, and her B.Com. degree from University of Natal Durban. She has taught, consulted and worked in Zimbabwe, South Africa, England and Armenia, and teaches regularly in France. Her research interests are in International Marketing, Marketing Strategies and Marketing for Nonprofit Organisations.
