Learning Styles and Online Success

This program presents information of the strengths and weaknesses from both student and faculty perspectives for on-line courses. Criteria for determining which courses/programs lend themselves to online delivery are offered. Web page design and utilization are demonstrated. Emphasis is on effective development of teaching strategies, assignments and testing. Effective teaching styles/methods, student satisfaction, along with testing difficulties and grading are discussed. The presenters will demonstrate web-page designs and updates that have proven effective.

Dr. Larry Ashbaugh joined the RSU faculty in the fall of 1998 as coordinator of the Alcohol and drug Abuse Counselors Program. He is a Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), and a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) with nineteen years experience working with substance dependent clients and sixteen years as a university professor. He currently serves as a member of the Oklahoma Drug/Alcohol Professional Counselors Certification Board. His graduate degrees in education and psychology were earned at The Pennsylvania State University.
