The Current Status of Education of the Visually Impaired and Deaf/Blind in the US: A Current Review

This presentation will discuss the current educational trends in terms of education of those with Visual Impairments, and Hearing Impairments and students labeled as Deaf/Blind. The statistics regarding those students with these exceptionalities will be reviewed and current methods of instruction in Orientation and Mobility will be discussed. Advances in Assistive technology Devices will be explored and computer and other technologies will be discussed. Training needs for regular education teachers as well as specialists will be discussed.
