  Abstract:

In this presentation, we will describe an instructional process designed to teach a wide variety of learners (including undergraduate education students, K-12 teachers and students) to design multimedia web pages. We will begin by briefly discussing our approach to creating a class "intra-web" that is developed to teach the concept of the World Wide Web which we have found particularly important to novice learner as well as dealing with issues of limited access to the WWW and planning, structuring, and controlling access to sites on the WWW to best facilitate learning and instruction. We will also describe and demonstrate multimedia web sites created by students with learning disabilities that include text, pictures, sound, and video. We will provide detailed handouts of the step-by-step procedures we have developed and validated with several groups of learners for creating multimedia web pages.
