This workshop will provide an overview of the current initiatives to support teachers of ESL learners in schools by the LOTE, ESL and Multicultural Education Branch of the Victorian Department of Education, Employment and Training. These include the following curriculum materials: The ESL Companion to the English CSF11 Curriculum @ work Beginning ESL First language assessment materials No English Don't Panic (revised ) Where's English? multimedia materials for newly arrived ESL learners As well as program support for new arrivals and for ESL students in mainstream schools which includes: English Language schools and centres Outposting programs Isolated ESL student support, including the new arrivals kit ESL Funding Multicultural Education Aides Plus the following services: The interpreting and translating service and materials Resources and support available from The Languages and Multicultural Education Resources Centre (LMERC) |
