Higher Education during the Transition of Century: Chinese Higher Education, Teaching Reform and Development

During the transition from the twentieth to the twenty-first century, the issue of the development strategy of rejuvenating China through developing science and education is raised in China. The reform and development for higher education has entered into a new historical age. This paper presents and discusses some situations in China's higher education and measures taken on reform with special reference to teaching concerning the conversion of education concepts in colleges and universities, updating of mode of cultivating talents, quality education and cultivating innovative talents, the construction and formation of campus culture and cultivating students' individualisation to main trends of the reform. The paper will take Jilin University of Technology in China as a case study that reflects the development and practice in this field.
