Cardiff Alumni Event in Beijing

Professor Zhong is President of Beijing Normal University and Former General Director of Dept. of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education for the People's Republic of China. He is also Honorary President of Cardiff University Chinese Alumni Association.
At a special ceremony and dinner in Beijing on 23rd May 2001 Professor Zhong Binglin was presented with an Honorary Fellowship by Cardiff University. The event was hosted by Sir Brian Smith, Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University, with support from the Welsh Development Agency. The citation was read by Sir Anthony Galsworthy, British Ambassador to China.
Born in 1951, Professor Zhong has had a prestigious career in Chinese higher education and has long had an association with Cardiff University since completing his PhD in Cardiff University's School of Engineering in 1994.
