Brief Biography Associate Professor Martin Nakata is the first Torres Strait Islander to receive a PhD from an Australian university. He is currently working as the Director of the Aboriginal Research Institute at the University of South Australia in Adelaide. His current work is in the Research and Curriculum Development areas with a particular focus on Indigenous education and English language teaching in Indigenous communities.
