Getting from Athens Airport
to Piraeus:
There is a bus service from Athens Airport
(Express Line E96) - details are on the GETTING
THERE link (airport info).
We are advised that you should allow
about 3 hours from the airport to the seaport - passing through
customs, collecting luggage and taking the bus to the Piraeus.
Delegates arriving into Athens from Bangkok at 7am on 3 July
and who have pre-booked comprehensive bus & ferry transfers, should look for
the Learning Conference & Ippocampos Travel representatives
in the Airport Arrivals Lounge - they will have Learning Conference
signs and will direct you to the chartered coaches. Please note that this applies on 3 July only.
Getting from Piraeus to
Spetses:
The Dolphin timetable is also on the
GETTING THERE
link (Flying Dolphin info) - the Dolphins (hydrofoils & catamarans)
run every 2 hours or so from approximately 8.00am to 8.00 pm
and the trip is about 2 hours.
Do make certain that you ask to be taken
to the Zea Marina
at Piraeus as this is where most Flying Dolphins to Spetses depart.
Tickets may be purchased at the wharf.
Groups and individuals with pre-booked ferry transfers for 3
July will be met at Zea Marina in Pireaus by Learning Conference & Ippocampos
Travel representatives - look for the kiosk on the Marina bearing
the Learning Conference banner.
- The first transfer
on 3 July is scheduled at 10.00 am. The second transfer is at
12.00 noon. Both transfers will depart from Zea
Marina at Piraeus and passengers
need to be at the wharf 30 minutes before departure.
- Please check your
ticket for your scheduled time as the Dolphins will be fully
booked and you must travel at your allocated time - note that
you will be unable to exchange times.
If in doubt about your travel time,
call us on +61 2 9787 6762 before Friday 22 June or call Ippocampos
Travel in Athens on +30 1 900 2600 after 22 June.
- Pre-booked tickets
are non-transferable and non-refundable so do not be late as
you will have to purchase a new ticket at the wharf for an alternative
service.
- If you are making
your own way from Athens to Piraeus by taxi, we are advised that
you should allow about an hour travel depending on traffic.
- Delegates with pre-booked
ferry transfers who have not received their vouchers for one
reason or another, should still go to Zea
Marina at the appropriate time -
our representatives will have a list of all passenger names and
can confirm your travel.
Getting from Spetses to
Piraeus:
There are two group transfers for delegates with pre-booked tickets
from Spetses back to Athens (Piraeus): the first on Monday 9
July; the second on Tuesday 10 July - these will depart at 10.45
am. Please be at the wharf by 10.30 am. Check your ticket for
your booking date.
- Delegates wishing
to depart on another day or at another time, may purchase Dolphin
tickets from the Spetses wharf at any time (services start about
6am).

________
And a final word, Dear Participant,
with the conference fast approaching it is clear that it has
turned into a major production but we have put in place many
support and transport services, combined that with lots of eager
helpers, and trust things will run as smoothly as possible. On
really big non-conference days, such as 3 and 9 July, we ask
that you bear with us as we process everyone and get each one
of you to wherever you are meant to be. Beyond that all we can
say is enjoy the Island and make the most of what really is shaping
up to be a great conference - check the website again in a few
days for the program and you will see what we mean...
