OnLine Learning - A Case Study

Abstract

Are attempts to translate traditional classroom-based pedagogies into the online environment going to lead to a reduction in the quality of the teaching and learning experience? Is there also a potential within online learning to create radically new kinds of learning which are in some respects more powerful than the traditional classroom-such as multi-linear subject structures that allow multiple navigation pathways; learning that actively appropriates learners' own experience; and learning that is designed to cater for the diversity of life-world settings and learning preferences of students.

What are the challenges that face educationalists, students and IT departments in order to make OnLine learning an educational and rewarding experience.

The Faculty of Education Languages and Community Services has developed a fully online program which has been offered to international offshore students over the last 12 months. The program is based on promoting new ways of learning.
