Training Graduate Primary Teachers in 6 Months: Can it be Done?

Abstract

Only three universities run post-graduate training for elementary school teachers, offering 140 places for over 600 qualified applicants. Teachers express doubt about the program compared with the 4 year undergraduate course. This research analyses the structure of the courses, and the resulting teacher products, with a focus on one cohort of students in the Shepparton program in 2000.
