Reinventing Classroom Word Study Assessment Tools

 

Abstract

Using current research findings, this workshop will explore assessment tools that have been both invented and retooled to assist preschool and elementary teachers with word study strategies. Participants will consider the potential of these tools for gathering information and guiding classroom practice related to phonological awareness, phonics, writing and spelling. The results of on-going research will be shared.

Bionote

Theresa E. Reagan is a full-time graduate reading instructor for Western Michigan University. In addition, she is the regional WMU Reading Clinic Director responsible for establishing reading clinics throughout the West Michigan Area. As an educational consultant, Theresa is involved in ongoing staff development and research in several school districts throughout the state of Michigan.
