Development and Application of New Knowledge and New Ways of Thinking about Teaching and Learning

Abstract:

The development and production of interactive learning environments is a complex process that requires a range of specialists to work together in a collaborative team environment. This paper will discuss the organisational issues that occurred in building diverse teams to support flexible learning while at the same time, providing effective administration and management systems that support innovative learning environments.

One of the goals of RMIT University's Teaching and Learning Strategy is the development and application of new knowledge and new ways of thinking about the teaching and learning experiences. Program renewal provides a means for reflecting on these applications and for integrating research and teaching within the experiences of both staff and students. The integration of research and teaching through program renewal benefits staff, students and the university. The current process of program renewal is one in which some facets are moving fast and challenging existing models and paradigms while others are moving more slowly and require assistance in making the journey.
