A Constructivist Approach to Mirror Learning On-the-job
This paper will present and discuss the design
and implementation of web-based interactive technologies to mirror
learning on-the-job in an interactive paperless class "INM3210
Systems Analysis and Design" at the University of Minnesota
Crookston. The presentation will include a live demo of the web-based
course and its interactive technologies used to implement job-related
simulations, providing students with real world experience. The
course was redesigned using a constructivist-leaning model. Complete
task analysis was performed on all learning outcomes to reflect
the constructivist-leaning model. Presentation content was kept
to the minimum amount necessary for students to understand how
to do their assignments and projects. 80% of the course content
are interactive self-learning, self-reviewing, and self-testing
web-based applications. WebCT is used as the sole learning interface
where a host of other technologies were incorporated (Toolbook,
Flash, VISIO, PowerPoint, etc)
