Abstract

This paper refers to a pilot project entitled: "Internal evaluation and planning at the School Unit" and will present the following:

• The main assumptions of the project concerning the expansion of the role of teachers to teachers-researchers, (the development of their professional autonomy in educational decision making, the development of an ethos of professional cooperation among all teachers within the school unit and the support of their professional development in general 2-year.
  
• The evaluation data concerning the 2-year implementation of the Project in Greek Primary and Secondary Schools.
  
• The first conclusions drawn from a pilot research study investigating the perception and interpretation by the teachers of the "educational material" produced in the context of the project, with particular reference to their professional development.

We are a research team working on the evaluation of the project presented above. Co-ordinator of the study is Joseph Solomon, Associate Professor in Athens University. Anna Tsatsaroni, Assistant Professor in University of Patras, is also a member of the research team.
