Teaching of Agricultural Science: Teachers' Attitude and Problems
Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the attitude and problem facing by agricultural science teachers in teaching agricultural science subject under the Integrated Secondary Schools Curriculum. The population includes all Agricultural Science teachers who are teaching at upper secondary schools in Malaysia. The respondents were randomly selected for this study and the data was collected by a questionnaire developed by the researcher. The finding showed teachers have bachelor degrees and teaching certificate. Most teachers have positive attitude toward the subject. They believed that students should have some science knowledge before enrolling in agriculture science at upper secondary schools. The major problems faced by the teachers are lack of science knowledge, lack of interest and low achievement among students. Majority of the schools are located in rural areas. The study suggests that the agricultural science subject should be offered based on interest and it should also offered to urban schools.
