TOUR A: Heritage Tour of Inner Georgetown City

Assemble in Hotel lobby for tour departure.

 

9.30am

 

To visit the famous Wat Chayamangkalaram, a Thai architectural Buddhist Temple which houses the 4th longest reclining Buddha, measuring 108 ft. in length.

Across the road is the Burmese Buddhist Temple which houses an imposing 8 meters tall Buddha.

 

10.20am

 

To visit a batik factory with workmen showing how the Malaysian batik is made - a cottage industry.

 

11.00am

 

To visit historical Fort Cornwallis built in 1808. Built by Captain Francis Light - the founder of Penang as he was afraid that the French might try to capture the Island.

 

11.30am

 

To continue the tour passing by the Clock Tower built to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Victoria's reign of England.

 

12.00noon

 

To visit the Clan bridge houses built on stilts.

 

12.12pm

 

To visit the Cheah Kongsi building noted for her fine architectural Chinese design.

 

1.20pm

 

Arrival back at Hotel. Tour Ends.
