Abstract The proposed workshop will report on an innovative project undertaken by Dr Chenglian Sim, Ms Beatrice Stotz and Ms Chandrima Mukerjee in collaboration with classroom teachers. The project is unique in the sense that very little work has been done to ascertain what is happening at the chalkface in relation to teaching and learning in a multicultural context. The presenters will report on teaching and learning issues and examples of good practice identified through classroom observations, structured interviews with teachers, students and special multicultural education coordinators and reviews of policy and curriculum documents.
