AbstractSecondary schools are faced with the difficult task of maintaining the balance nurturing students in the teaching and learning process and yet still maintaining checks and controls required to credential students for higher education. Some current assessment practices can limit some students' opportunities to demonstrate what they really KNOW and DO. This workshop gives an account of materials designed to review the issue of assessment at the whole school level. They are process oriented and reflective in nature can be self-run at a school level by an interested staff number. The conference workshop will provide opportunities to explore some of the key components of the materials relating to assessment and design with a view to dispel some of the myths of assessment and to ensure more favourable outcomes for all students particularly those students who struggle through the assessment maze. |
